Let There Be Light!

Yes, we still have a pumpkin outside our apartment. We are saving it for a special occasion

I have never realized how awful it is to put up lights in the freezing cold until I had to do it myself. There was no Dad or Brother whom I could shove outside( with a little bribery) and make them put up the lights for me. However, at the end of the experience it was very rewarding to stand back and look at the work I had done. So the lights aren't symmetrical or pbut luckily there wasn't that one lightbulb that was unscrewed and put the whole strand out of commission. How many times have I watched my dad frustratingly going through all the miniscule light bulbs looking for the magical one that would fix everything?...numerous times. I can't help but think of Chevy Chase's Christmas Vacation every time I see someone putting up lights.
I can't believe that the semester is almost over! It has been such a rewarding experience and I have had a blast not doing homework. I love the midnight runs to WalMart to get movies or ingredients for little midnight snacks. anyways i have tons of homework to not do so I better wrap this up. k bye! ( i have no idea why there is such a big gap between the pictures and the text. i really have no idea what i am doing :)

Let it Snow

I woke up this morning to snow!!! It was beautiful. I was sitting eating breakfast just watching the snow fall, it was so peaceful. However, walking to class was a different story altogether. ya see if people think driving in snow is hard they should try walking. Snow is pelting you in the face( and you don't have windshield wipers) you're slipping and sliding all over the place and by the time you get to your destination you can't feel your body. I guess you could say I love the snow :)

I am thankful for...

I have decided that I want to post things I am grateful for every day( or every other day) until Thanksgiving! :) I think this is a really cute idea and it will help me be thankful for the little things that happen in my life.

1.Today I am thankful for sisters who will let me vent on the phone to them about my life when they have screaming babies in the backround.
2. Today I am thankful for beautiful weather that lets me run outside and enjoy nature
3. Today I am thankful for boys who smile and open the door for me
4. But Most of all I am thankful that there are only 2 weeks until thanksgiving break and i get to go HOME!!!! YEAH YEAH

" ENJOY the little things in life for one day you'll look back and realize they were the BIG things!"

Does anyone have any fairy dust? Peter ran off with mine

Halloween is a hard holiday because once you find that perfect costume it is always hard to break out of it. I have been a grandma for Halloween for the past 2 years and before that I was Harry Potter and before that Cruella Devil. That is my history of Halloween costumes. This year I had no idea what dress up as because I literally didn't have anything. Luckily my roommate had the same dilemma and we went to the nearest dollar store and got all the makings for a magical fairy. We got the cool make up, the wings and even drew the little designs next to our eyes. Overall I would say a very successful outfit. There was only one minor detail: snow. I have never in my life worn a jacket on Halloween. I have never had to accommodate for cold weather. I have never had SNOW on halloween. Despite the frigid weather I managed to have a enjoyable night( oh forgot to mention our ward had a halloween party for FHE) and I never get tired of dressing up.

Autumn is finally here!

- the beautiful tree I see outside my window everyday
- Me doing crazy things at one in the morning
-Hiking "R" mountain
- Me, Melissa and Emma hanging out at the straw maze

Autumn. It really is the best time of year. The leaves are changing color, warm smells are in the air and it is the perfect time to go to haunted straw mazes with hott boys. One of the popular things to do in Rexburg is hit every haunted something nearby. Over the weekend I went with a group of friends to a straw maze and it was so fun( and extremely difficult)! Living in Vegas you don't really get seasons so being up here it's like I am experiencing seasons for the first time.I feel like a kid in a candy store. I am so excited to pull out my scarves, hats and gloves. There is definitely an Autumn feeling in the air. Everyone is baking cookies, hot chocolate is the preferred drink and the football fever is underway. The weather is perfect so everyone is outside riding bikes, playing sports or just sitting on the grass soaking up the sun. Whenever I imagined myself up at college partying, Fall was always the season I pictured in my head. I imagined doing all the fun activities that my siblings always talked about and for once reality is better than my imagination.

The Cave Rave( and other exciting things)

I never know how to start my blog entries so I am just going to jump right in. This past weekend I went to a cave rave. Technically it was a dance party in the caves but from what I saw it looked like a rave. My roommate drove her truck to the caves and we did some serious off roading business. It was a blast! Oh and the other pictures are of a soccer game and football game that I went to. Both the teams I was cheering for won! ( i guess i am good luck)

Food Glorious Food!

I have decided that since I am living on my own I might as well learn how to cook. Thanks to my awesome sister Emily whom I call for everything( because jill can barely cook creme brulee french toast, I mean COME ON jill) Anyways Emily has been there for me through all the horrible disasters. I forgot to tell Emily that the brownies were gosh awful but the potatoes made up for it.

What I love about Sundays

It seems like my sundays are my busiest days out of the whole week. Yesterday we had a boys apartment come over for dinner. We made them spaghetti, french bread( which i burned, i blame it on mom) and salad. It was so fun! I got to wear my cute apron and I felt so womanly. We played fun games and halfway through my Camp side kicked in and i had to do the dishes. I mean who starts getting out dessert when the dinner dishes aren't cleaned? Then our FHE brothers came and brought us cake so the first guys left because they didn't want to intrude on "family" bonding. Our FHE brothers finally left at like 11:00 and I decided it would be a good time to start homework. All in all it was a very long, fun filled day. It is days like those that make me really love college.

I'm tired of coming up with creative titles for my posts

Last night I was just sitting in my apartment eating junk food when the movie Gone with the Wind came on. I got really excited (probably a little too excited. my roommates think I'm a freak now haha). Immediately I thought back to Newport when I watched it with all my sisters and we were laughing and talking about Scarlett O'Hara's awesome eyebrow raise. I tried to convince my roommates to watch it with me but they wouldn't. They just don't understand the classic-ness of this movie! Watching that movie made me really miss you guys ( jill, emily and clarah). I love watching oldies but goodies with you. Anyways, after watching the part where Scarlet is all upset because her waist used to be 20 in. and now its 22 I decided to put the skittles away and go for a run. I love this place! I ran right as the sun was setting and it was sooo beautiful. There is an open field right next to the temple and you can see the whole valley. I stopped there and watched the sunset over Rexburg and as I was watching the sunset Dances Wolves soundtrack came on my Ipod. I couldn't help but start to tear up as I watched the sunset and thought of my Dad's favorite movie. Well, that was my day yesterday. It was a day full of adventure

home sweet home

Dear avid reader,
college. what can be said? The first time I walked onto campus I saw a father walking with his two children. Immediately I thought “ oooh sucks for him. He must be ashamed” but then I realized I was in college and people walking around with kids is completely normal! AAAHHH! I’m still traumatized. College is a completely different environment then what I am used to. Everyone is wearing modest clothes, we start class with a prayer, and I don’t hear the f-word every five seconds. I have to say it is refreshing and a little unsettling.
My first day of classes I felt so confident that I was in the right place and I could totally handle anything. Well, let’s just say that I didn’t know where I was going and I realized I couldn’t handle everything when a forty year old man( with a mustache) came and sat next to me. Along with slightly traumatizing men hitting on me I have experienced the worst weather here in one day than I ever had in 18 years in Las Vegas. I have a night class that starts and 7:00 and ends at 10:00. I was just eating dinner when I heard what sounded like a giant blow dryer coming from outside. I looked out the window and I couldn’t see anything. It was pouring rain( and by pouring I mean a torrential downpour of rain and hail)! I looked at the clock and it was 6:30. Oh...crap. Luckily, my roommate has a car and she offered to drive me or else I would’ve decided that class just wasn’t worth a cold shower.

Total Eclipse of the Heart

Today I went and saw Eclipse with my sisters, mom, and brother. I felt bad for Nate and Jill because they had to sit next to me and i couldn't stop snickering. I really like the movie when jacob was in the scene but beside that the movie was mediocre. Evertytime edward was on the screen i cringed and then broke out into laughter ( knee jerk reaction). My favorite part of the movie was making t-shirts with Emily they day before we saw the movie. We made the coolest t-shirts with an eclipse moon and team jacob on the back. I know jill will be talking about this movie in her blog so I will leave all the anxsty details up to her. peace out =]

Graduation

Better late than never. I figured that would be a good theme for this blog. About a month ago I graduated high school and I didn't blog it!( i know shame on me). It was a really great graduation and very surreal. I really have nothing to say about it. I didn't get nostalgic and I just wanted it to be over so I could go to lunch ha ha. Here are some pictures

Senior Day

Today was senior day at school. All the senior were excused from class to PARTAY!!!! We got breakfast in the morning and we signed yearbooks. After breakfast there was a senior assembly. We watched the senior slideshow, the talent show winners performed and they gave out prizes to the winners of the senior personality awards. To end the day there was also a dodgeball competition. I was on the team " Easily Intimidated" and we played "the captains"( who were all the cool kids). We got out really fast but I was the last man standing and I went down fighting. I had so much fun. The seniors also got a barbecue. Some of the outfits were hilarious. There was an Amish team, a communist team, That 70's show, Ron Burgondy and the channel four news team and Harry Potter.

San Francisco

This weekend I just got back from my final band trip to San Francisco. It was a BLAST!!! I did some pretty crazy things. We left on Wednesday right after school and arrived in Monterey about midnight. We stayed in a disgusting motel and of course my room couldn't get into our room and after the fourth key they just gave us new rooms. On thursday morning we went to the Monterey bay aquarium and it was BEAUTIFUL!! I saw tons of fish and had a lot of fun. We drove the rest of the way to San Fran and we arrived at our hotel about 5:30. We left right away to go see WICKED!!! If you haven't seen that play, you need to it is a must. It was so amazing. Alphaba was a little pitchy but other than that the play was flawless. Friday morning we did our performance and it wasn't our best but it was okay. Then Friday night we went see a Baseball Game, The Oakland A' vs San Francisco Giants. It was really cold but a lot of fun. I spent most of the game waiting in a line to get hot chocolate and a hot dog. I was hit on by a crazy man named Al who wanted to " hit it up" after the game. I gave him a few pointers on how to approach women and then I shut. him. down. What can I say? the boys love me. ha ha. Saturday we spent all day at a theme park and then that night was the awards ceremony. Green Valley won everything. It was really sad to watch the other schools faces. Overall I think it was an amazing way to end my senior year :)

Band

This past Thursday was my last band concert with the Green Valley high school band. When I look back on my band experiences I realize how much I have learned. Although everyone complains about Ms.K she truly has taught me a lot about music and life. Through band I have learned how to organize my time and how to be diligent. I have had to deal with really hard things, like playing in front of the band for solo ensemble, in band and they have made me a stronger person. When I look back at my Freshman self in band I was so timid and everything about high school and band scared me. But now that I am a senior in band all my good friends are in band with me and I feel like I can truly be myself with band kids because no matter how weird you act there is always someone who is weirder. I think I will find myself missing that camaraderie that occurs between people when you are with them everyday for four years. I have met some of my best friends in band and it makes me sad that when we graduate I will probably never see any of them again. Since your the only person that reads this blog jill I can only compare it to your experience in Nauvoo. You spent everyday with those people and you became really good friends with them. Imagine doing that for four years. Granted there are some that I hope end up homeless, lonely and begging for food but most of them I like. Well, I have to go to a band gig :)

Senior Night

Tonight was senior night for all the seniors in the ward. There are a lot of seniors this year and we are all going our separate ways which is really weird because some of us have grown up together since kindergarten. I have watched all my older brothers and sisters attend senior night. I was always there cheering them on. Now when it was finally my turn none of them showed up. Whatever( I am a little bit bitter). However, it was a really good night. All the parents stood up and talked about their seniors. Of course I went last and my mom and dad talked the longest. They had some really funny stories of when I was little with my two best friends laura and natalie. I was really proud of mom because she was about the only person that didn't cry. And my dad had some really good comments. I thought for sure he would say something about my homeless hair, or my crooked teeth or my claw toenails, but he said some really heart felt stuff( besides the part when he said he can't wait to see my blonde haired kids). Over all it was a very good night with wonderful decorations and good food. I am glad it is finally my turn. :)

Potatoes Anyone?

This weekend I went to visit my college up in Idaho! To say that nothing is there would be the understatement of the year. However, it is SO beautiful. The sky is huge and it just goes on forever. BYU-I campus is very pretty and I am really excited to go to college. Everyone is so nice and there are some way hott guys ( that live in the apartment building next to me YEAH!!!). my apartment building is right off of campus so it is about a 5-10 minute walk to class ( I keep telling myself I need the exercise). The campus is really small so that made it easier to learn where everything is. Also I learned that President Eryings son is my stake president and I accidently ran into him in the Kimball building and he looks just like his dad. It was scary and awesome. I also saw a wild buffalo and some elk in someones backyard/field. I mean who has a wild buffalo for a pet?( these people are crazy). Coming to a place like this makes me realize how much of a city girl I really am. I get excited over seeing a squirrel and these people are have elk and buffalo in their backyards. I am really excited to come here for school in the fall and can't wait to get reaquainted with my nature side.

Thank Goodness its Saturday

YEAH!!!! Finally, it is saturday ( the most celebrated day of the week). This past week at school has been so exhausting. It wasn't even the school part that was tiring it was the go to high school and pretend that you care part. I can not wait to get out of high school and leave all these people behind( but I dreading leaving my family behind). Anyways, I know that sounds pretty harsh but I go to school with the rudest most stuck up teenagers ever and they drive me crazy! However I do have those good friends that share my frustration and they have made these last months pretty enjoyable. It is weird when you are a senior in high school, you just shut off. I mean I don't try to have senioritis but I do. I am trying my hardest in all of my classes but for some reason the back of my brain it telling me( at this very moment) "hey you don't have to try as hard your a senior and have already been accepted to college." But the front of my brain is screaming "GET TO WORK! don't slack off or else you wont graduate high school and then you will work at Burger King." I have decided to listen to the back of my brain. Burger King here I come.

It Begins

I am going to Ricks (I mean BYU-Idaho) in the fall. Yipee. Was that sarcastic because it was supposed to be. Not quite sure how I feel about going there instead of the "real" BYU. I hope that my visit to the campus next week will help me get excited. Yipee. Jill, my older and not yet wiser sister, convinced me to start a blog to document my college travels. I don't have a husband or a child so I have to be creative on what to blog about. I think I can come up with stuff. So here to opening the next chapter in my life. Yipee!!

Don't you love my charming personality
